Who am I?

I’m A. Kate Willett: reader, writer, mystery fan, and amateur historian.

I’ve always loved to create things. As a child, I spent my time drafting pretend newspapers and clothing catalogs, attempting to crochet at least one decent looking scarf, and drawing faces and mountain scenes in the margin of my notebooks during class.

My mother was a librarian, and little me could often be found in the library’s downstairs children’s room or the upstairs reference section sitting on the floor, completely lost in some new book I’d found. Mystery novels are my mom’s favorite, and that rubbed off onto me. She always had copies of Agatha Christie and Sue Grafton novels stashed around the house.

My grandmother, who was also an avid reader and had shelves and shelves of beautiful books in her home, encouraged my reading with trips to B. Dalton and Waldenbooks whenever I visited her.

I love reading and watching stories in the mystery genre most. There’s something satisfying about picking up a piece of a puzzle, examining it, and plotting a million what-ifs. That’s why I’ll always choose MysteryPlease!
